New Strautmann Magnon 11 short-cut loader wagon

Headlined by a new Flex-Load pickup that’s not only more efficient but eliminates high-wearing parts

German company Strautmann launched the new Magnon 11 loader wagon at Agritechnica 2025, lauding the “short-cut difference” of its 22mm fodder cut length.

A consistent and thorough short-cut fodder increases load weight in the wagon, as well as improving spreading and compacting operations and efficiency at the silage pit – which translates to time, fuel and load cycle savings.

The new Flex-Load pickup uses polyurethane pickup tines, which is claimed to extend tine life and lower maintenance costs. Moreover, the Flex-Load not only does away with the need for complex high-wear cam driven pickup tines but also eliminates the need for strippers – another traditional wearing item.

The hydraulic drive means the pickup speed can be adjusted from the cabin’s ISOBUS terminal to suit the fodder swath and ground conditions.

Between the pickup and the chopping rotor is the patented accelerator roller. The roller spreads the fodder swath across the full width of the chopping rotor while also lifting the fodder. With the accelerator roller’s lifting action, Strautmann has maintained a fully flat moving floor even with 30.5-inch wheels. The spreading action more importantly evens out the chopping workload across the entire knife bank.

The capacity of the Magnon 11 ranges from 42-52 cubic metres.

The scissor cutting action of the rotor against the knife bank is the key to frugal power consumption and thoroughness of fodder processing. The close tolerance between the rotor pusher plates and the knives is what creates the cutting action, without tearing the fodder and leaving uncut fodder – but if that does occur, a pair of special additional knives have been added.

Australian Strautmann distributor Inlon is now taking orders for the Magnon 11. A wide range of wheel equipment is available, along with options such as hydraulically operated road covers, weigh scales and active steering.
