New T5 Dual Command boosts capability and tech

New Holland has launched its latest T5 Dual Command tractor range at the 2026 AgQuip Field Days, bringing increased capacity, improved operator comfort and technology previously associated with the brand’s larger tractors into the utility segment.

Available in 100hp and 120hp models, the new T5 Dual Command is aimed at a broad range of farm applications including loader work, dairy operations and fodder conservation, with both models available in cab or ROPS configurations.

Speaking to farmmachinerysales at AgQuip, New Holland tractor product specialist Karl Harvey said one of the biggest changes was under the bonnet.

“The big difference is the engine really,” Harvey said.

"We’ve gone to 3.6-litre four-cylinder Stage V engine where the majority of the T5 models don’t run that. They’re still running the S8000 engine and either Tier 4 or Tier 3.”

The Stage V package also introduces an AdBlue tank to the T5 Dual Command, along with New Holland’s latest emissions after-treatment system, designed to meet the tighter emissions standard while maintaining efficient tractor operation.

The tractors also gain a strengthened chassis supporting a 7000kg gross vehicle weight, along with larger 540/65R38 wheels, providing additional stability and traction.

Hydraulic performance has also been upgraded, with rear hydraulic flow increasing to 82 litres per minute – a 28 per cent increase – while rear three-point linkage lift capacity rises to 4.7 tonnes. Up to three rear remote valves can be specified.

Harvey said the additional capacity broadens the tractor’s capabilities across implement and fodder work.

“It’s more than capable to tow a round baler or small square or conventional baler, and certainly do a lot more of your implement-type work,” he said.

New Holland has also focused heavily on manoeuvrability and loader operation.

The T5 Dual Command can be specified with three front axle configurations, including a Class 1 SuperSteer front axle offering up to 76 degrees of steering angle, as well as Class 1 heavy-duty and Class 1.5 heavy-duty alternatives.

Visibility has been improved through a redesigned sloping bonnet, reshaped upper windscreen area and repositioned exhaust. The previous L-shaped exhaust has been replaced by a U-shaped design aligned more closely with the cab pillar to reduce its obstruction of the operator’s forward view.

A new loader joystick also incorporates forward/reverse control and the transmission’s high/low splitter, allowing more functions to be controlled without the operator moving their hand between controls.

Another significant addition is New Holland’s Dynamic Start/Stop system, which effectively provides brake-to-clutch functionality.

Once the tractor has been started, pressing the brake pedals disengages the transmission and brings the tractor to a stop without requiring the clutch pedal. Releasing the brakes allows it to move off again.

“You only need to touch the clutch once and that’s only to start it,” Harvey said.

He added the feature was particularly useful for repetitive operations such as round baling, where an operator can stop the tractor as the bale chamber fills and then move off again without repeatedly operating the clutch.

The new T5 Dual Command also represents a step up in precision farming technology for New Holland’s utility tractor range.

Factory-integrated precision farming and telematics are available on the T5 Dual Command for the first time, providing access to guidance, connectivity and remote monitoring functions.

The new T5 units can be specified with New Holland’s IntelliView 12 display, Level 2 guidance and ISOBUS Class 2 functionality.

Harvey said the changes reflected New Holland’s move to introduce technology from its larger tractors further down the range.

“Everything that sits in the bigger tractors is rolling down,” Harvey said.

“This new iteration can be optioned with full connectivity so all the technology in the bigger tractors are now in the T5.”

Harvey said connectivity could also help farmers maintain records of jobs and where work had been carried out, providing greater traceability.

Operator comfort has also received attention, with mechanical cab suspension now available on the T5 Dual Command.

Harvey said the suspension raises overall cab height by only around 20mm, limiting the impact on access to sheds and other low-clearance areas commonly encountered during loader work.

The redesigned cab also includes a tilting steering column and dash, while an updated colour digital display provides clearer information and allows operators to adjust tractor settings.

An optional reversible engine fan is also available, which Harvey said could be useful during baling and other dusty applications by reversing airflow to clear grass, dust and debris from the cooling package.

New Holland says the T5 Dual Command is available to order in Australia, with the first units expected to arrive in the country over the coming months.
