PFG uncovers Vicon RV5200 balers

Two new models offer plethora of smart features including intelligent baling technology, programmable bale density system and more

PFG Australia has announced the addition of two new models – the VICON RV5216R and RV5220R to its round baler offering following increasing customer demand for heavy-duty and versatile silage balers for the professional market.

The VICON RV5216 model is available with a PowerFeed rotor intake or with a SuperCut-14 knife chopping intake. This model produces bales with diameters ranging from 0.6 to 1.65m.

The higher spec RV5220 is available with a PowerFeed rotor intake, SuperCut 14 or SuperCut 25 knife chopping systems for superior silage quality, and is capable of producing bales with diameters of up to 2m.

Both models offer intelligent baling with a 2.2m wide, 5-tine bar pickup; a programmable multi-chambered bale density system and user-friendly ISOBUS compatible controls. The bale diameter is easily adjusted through the control terminal.

The timesaving PowerBind Net Wrap System has one of the fastest net wrap actions available, according to PFG Australia, and it has the ability to extend the net beyond the edge of the bale for a perfect wrap every time.

Selecting the correct bale density to suit the crop and its condition is simple with three pre-selected bale density settings available – namely for straw, hay and silage.

For producing heavy bales from straw, maximum pressure is applied in every zone. If baling hay, the system automatically reduces the pressure in the centre to allow the bales to breathe, and increases pressure gradually towards the outer layer.

If baling wet silage, the Intelligent Density 3D reduces pressure in the centre and mid zones.

However, if the operator chooses to customise the bale density, they can do so in three separate zones each with a choice of diameter and pressure to match individual requirements.

A 2.2m wide pick-up reel is ideal for all lengths of crop. With five rows of tines and twin cam tracks, throughput is fast and efficient, PFG Australia said. The new models come standard with crop rollers.

The RV5216SC model has 14 knives with a chopping length of 70mm. Each individual knife is spring protected and quickly returns to work after avoiding an obstacle.

The SuperCut 25 knife model is available on indent and with a chop length of 40mm, offers a good solution for short crop. This system gives the operator the choice of engaging 25, 13, 12, six or zero knives giving maximum flexibility.

The PowerFeed Rotor intake handles all crops and conditions with ease. Its 13 rotor fingers proactively force the material into the bale chamber for higher intake speed and capacity.

Each model comes with the new Vicon Parallelogram drop floor system that provides faster and easier clearing of blockages from the tractor cab, thus reducing downtime. In addition to lowering the rear edge of the drop floor like conventional systems, VICON’s patented system provides extra space under the front section of the floor for blockages to clear more effectively.

The RV5200 range comes with either the Isomatch Tellus GO or Tellus PRO control systems.

The basic Tellus GO allows operators to easily control ISOBUS machines from the tractor cab and is a great introductory platform for farmers to step into precision agriculture with basic section control and variable rate control functionalities.

Its compact design and 7-inch touch screen lets farmers set up the baler exactly how they want easily and quickly.

The IsoMatch Tellus PRO is the higher spec control terminal with more advanced hardware and software for all precision farming and machine control needs. Through the Tellus PRO, operators can view cost savings in their operations (in fertiliser, chemicals etc), use automatic section control and variable rate control; and view and control two machines and processes simultaneously.
