Serafin Eco disc harrow built tough for Aussie conditions

Durable built, ideal transport width and attractive pricing some of Serafin’s new disc harrow’s points of interest

Griffith based tillage and seeding machinery specialist, Serafin Machinery, has released the flagship 7m disc harrow from its Eco series of cultivators, which it said has been designed to suit local needs.

“The Serafin Eco series started a couple of years back with some very basic small ploughs that we were bringing in to meet market needs for cheaper machines that are of good quality but basic,” said Serafin Machinery Sales Manager, Rodney Dunn.

“From there, we've expanded the range to include a wider machine which is the 7m Eco series tandem disc harrow. It has 64 plates and weighs seven tonnes. It’s a heavy machine but still comes at a very good price so still fitting that economy range.”

While its full working width is 7m, it folds to just 3m for transport, which was a big focus for Serafin when designing the machine.

“Transport width is a very big part of the business at the moment,” Dunn said.

“There's a lot of talk in the industry about it, so we're always trying to make sure we meet that target.

“So we don't need an escort to be able to transport the machine. It's got an oversized sign and flashing beacon, so operators can just tow it away as is.”

Dunn said Serafin worked with a company based in China to redesign and manufacture the disc harrow with the aim of making it durable enough to withstand tough Australian conditions.

“They do a really good job of listening to us when we've asked for different frame structures like extra gussets on the machine to ensure that we're getting really good strength out of our frame,” Dunn said.

The discs on the Serafin Eco disc harrow are 26-inch wide by 6mm thick with 230mm spacings in between.

Serafin has used common size discs, parts and bearings with its Eco disc harrows so farmers have easy access to parts when they need.

The 7m Serafin Eco disc harrow retails for $55,000 plus GST and comes with a 12-month parts warranty.
