Serafin Machinery has added its popular Hi Lift feature to its smaller Ultisow Narrowfold (NF) single disc seeder range that will allow farmers to safely access discs and parts under the seeder bar for maintenance or repair purposes.
The Hi Lift frame was originally launched earlier this year on the Ultisow 9m and 12m single disc seeders and has received an overwhelming response from farmers, said Serafin Machinery’s Rodney Dunn.
“Customers have been saying they love the fact that we had designed the machine to be easy to work on but wanted that for the smaller size machines as well,” he said.
“This got the grey matter rattling over the past few months and this is what we have come up with.”
The Hi Lift frame can be fitted on all Narrowfold models ranging from 5m to 7m in working width. However, it is not available for retrofitting on to existing models as it forms part of the rear frame and needs to be designed into the frame from factory, Dunn said.
With the Hi Lift Narrowfold models, the frame can be hydraulically lifted approximately 800mm and can be locked into a lifted position for added safety.
This allows farmers and operators to comfortably access the seeding units to check for damage or to repair components safely without the need to crouch and crawl.
The centre chassis rail has also been extended by around 150mm between the front and rear rows to further improve access to the units.
“This option doesn’t change the way the seeder operates and it hasn't affected the narrow 3m transport width that farmers have come to love,” Dunn added.
“We can also still get narrow row spacing down to 158mm so it only comes with positive improvements.”
Dunn said the modification to the frame to enable the Hi Lift feature doesn’t require too many drastic changes, therefore keeping costs low.
“Indicative costs at the moment set this option at around $12,000 to $15,000 plus GST extra over a standard NF frame.”
Dunn said Serafin Machinery has a 7m Narrowfold model with the Hi Lift option in stock at its premise in Griffith and invites anyone interested in inspecting the unit to get in touch at 0459 755 881 and arrange for a visit.
