Case IH has introduced the newest, and smallest member of its Patriot self-propelled sprayer family – the 2230 which offers a 2500-litre capacity and 175hp.
Case IH’s Patriot 2230 is cousin to the larger 4430 and 3330, and according to Case IH, is the ideal unit for smaller operations such as vegetable farms.
“Its capabilities in the field are proof you can get all the features of a big sprayer in a small-chassis package,” said Case IH Australia and New Zealand High Horsepower and Sprayer Product Manager, Alyx Selsmeyer.
“This is a cost-efficient machine with the Patriot DNA – consistent and accurate application every time in all conditions, great fuel economy and cab comfort that delivers on even the longest of days.”
One of the unique features of the 2230 is its ground clearance of 158cm (with R42 tyres) which, according to Selsmeyer, is the highest out of all the Patriot units, as well as other competitor models.
“It has the greatest distance from the ground to the lowest point on the underbelly of the machine, which, depending on what you’re producing, makes it very appealing,” she said.
The Case IH Patriot 2230 is powered by an FPT engine offering 175 base hp and 190 peak hp. It is equipped with Case IH’s Patriot cab which offers a cool and quiet operating environment.
The technology offering on the 2230 is the same as that on its larger cousins. Some standard inclusions are the AccuGuide autoguidance system, AccuBoom Automatic Boom Section control that automatically turns off boom sections when entering an area that has already been sprayed; and the AutoBoom Automatic Boom Height control that detects changes in terrain and adjusts the booms accordingly.
The AIM Command FLEX, which is a spray system that helps maintain optimal coverage over a range of speeds and terrain, is available as an option.
The Patriot 2230 also features an independent suspension system that, according to Case IH, absorbs shock loads in the most challenging of terrains.
Its distinctive cab forward, rear-engine design allows for a light footprint, hence minimising rutting and soil compaction while maintaining maximum performance.
While suitable for smaller holdings, the Patriot 2230 is also worth a look for those growing cotton and other broadacre crops, Selsmeyer said.
“The charm of the 2230 is that it’s an entry-level machine that doesn’t compromise on efficiency, durability or comfort,” she said.
