TMA reveals Careers Awareness campaign

New campaign aims to inspire the next generation of agricultural machinery specialists

A career in ag machinery is more than just hard labour and working the field all day, it is tech and innovation driven with plenty of opportunities to unleash one’s creativity – that is the message the Tractor and Machinery Association of Australia (TMA) wishes to convey through its latest Careers Awareness campaign.

The campaign was created to showcase the diverse and dynamic career opportunities within the agricultural machinery industry, featuring a series of compelling video stories from professionals across Australia, highlighting their unique backgrounds and career journeys.

The videos are shared on TMA’s website and social media platforms in a bid to reach students, job seekers and career changers across Australia.

“Many people assume that working in agricultural machinery means being out in the field or having a farming background. That couldn’t be further from the truth,” said TMA executive director, Gary Northover.

“This industry is home to roles in technology, design, sales, marketing, engineering, and many other fields, with opportunities in both rural and city locations.”

The campaign aims to attract young people by breaking down industry stereotypes and demonstrating that careers in agricultural machinery can be technology-driven, creative, and highly innovative.

The featured individuals come from varied backgrounds—some with no prior connection to agriculture—proving that it is an industry for everyone.

“This campaign is about broadening horizons,” Northover continued. “Whether you’re interested in cutting-edge robotics, software development, sustainable engineering, or business leadership, there is a place for you in this sector.

“These stories highlight the rewarding and progressive career paths available.”
