Top 5 most popular UTVs for 2024

Did your favourite make the list?

Utility vehicles (UTVs) or side-by-sides are an essential tool in any farm’s arsenal, with its versatility making it ideal for any towing, carrying and transporting work around the farm.

Don’t be fooled by the term ‘utility’. While they may not be as speedy as some sports UTV models out there, these units are great for recreational purposes too, still offering the fun factor to drivers.

In Australia, UTVs are increasingly replacing ATVs as the farm vehicle of choice due to the choices available as well as the comfort and safety factor.

Wondering which five models caught the most buyers’ attention this year? Read on…

While not adorned with bells and whistles, the model is reliable and powerful, ideal for towing and loading small to medium loads around the property.

A Kubota engine offers 17.4hp, while towing and load capacity are rated at 530kg and 200kg respectively.

John Deere’s Gator range has been a popular vehicle choice among Aussie farmers, especially those who bleed green.

The range is named XUV or Crossover Utility Vehicles because John Deere insists its side-by-sides are not just workhorses on the farm but are perfect for play too.

The XUV865M sits at number four on our list, boasting 22.8hp. It has a respectable towing capacity of 903kg and cargo capacity of 454kg.

Capable of travelling up to 52km/h, the XUV865M will get you to where you need to be, stat.

The XUVB865M also comes with optional HVAC (heating and air-conditioning) for that extra touch of comfort and luxury.

3. John Deere XUV865E

Taking the number three spot is the John Deere XUV865E, which offers the same fruit and power as the aforementioned XUV865M, except it does not offer HVAC or power steering.

Kubota’s side-by-sides have been a mainstay on Aussie farms and the 1120 has been one of the most popular models in the range.

Boasting an output of 24.8hp, the 1120 can carry up to 500kg in the cargo box and features the tried and tested Variable hydro transmission (VHT-X).

The unit is also capable of going up to 46km/h, which isn’t bad at all.

1. Polaris Ranger Diesel 1000

Sitting at the top of the list is none other than Polaris with its trusty Ranger series of UTVs. The Ranger 1000 looks rugged and is rugged, offering 61hp and a towing capacity of 1134kg.

Farmers can also throw up to 453kg worth of firewood, tools, gear…whatever it is that needs to be ferried around the farm into the tray.

There are plenty of options farmers can choose from to truly make the vehicle their own. Whether you opt for the bare minimum (which is already good enough by any standards) or the premium version with the lot that includes EPS, large steel bumper, thicker seats and premium paint, the Ranger 1000 is ready for work.
