UNIA AMBER 900 drill sowing seeds of success in Oz

Polish-made heavy duty mechanical seed drill ideal for hay and grass market and suitable for local conditions

Polish farm machinery manufacturer, UNIA, is expanding its presence in the Australian ag-machinery market with its latest release, the AMBER 900 single disc seed drill that the company said is robust enough to work in the harshest conditions.

The AMBER 900 drill is also available in a fertiliser and seed option that allows operators to sow and fertilise the ground at the same time.

The unit is distributed in Australia by Wodonga-based FarmTech Machinery, which has been distributing the UNIA brand for five years.

“It is a very popular seed drill in Scandinavia,” said FarmTech Machinery’s sales manager, Derek Modra.

“With a mechanical drive system, there is very little that can go wrong with it. They particularly like to use it where there's a lot of rocks.

“They like the fact that the disc assembly can withstand rough conditions.”

The UNIA AMBER 900 has a heavy duty disc assembly mounted on four rubber shock absorbers to minimise damage to machinery parts and bearings.

It is available in widths of 3m, 3.5m and 4m and features seed boxes with capacities of up to 3000 litres.

“With the larger 3000-litre hopper, it has an adjustable slide section so you can alter the seed and the fertiliser capacity to what you require,” Modra explained.

Operators can sow seeds of different sizes by adjusting the metering rollers on the unit. While most suitable for sowing grass seeds for pasture, the AMBER 900 drill can also sow other crops such as canola, cereal and rape.

The 3m drill has a dry weight of two tonnes.

“The down pressure of this disc assembly is up to 100kg per disc,” Modra said.

The AMBER 900 drill has a horsepower requirement of 90hp and above, and retails for $46,000 plus GST.
