Upgraded JCB Fastrac 8330 faster and safer

JCB’s flagship tractor receives several new safety and comfort featuresed banner farmmachinerysales virtual field days 2021 3qjk

For a tractor that’s one of, if not the fastest production tractor in the world, safety is paramount. With that in mind, JCB has further enhanced the safety features on its flagship Fastrac 8330 tractor, to allow a safe and comfortable ride for operators even when travelling at the tractor’s top speed of 70km/h.

Safety first

A key safety feature of the new JCB Fastrac 8330 Series 5 is the external brakes, fitted to both axles that allow the tractor to consistently stop up to 15 per cent quicker than other conventional tractors, JCB claimed.

An advanced anti-lock system (ABS) retains stability and steering while optimising braking performance on the road, along dirt tracks and in the field, the company added.

As part of the new Fastrac’s fail-safe set-up, the brakes are applied in the event of a loss of pressure. A transmission disc park brake holds the tractor securely and applies air brakes on a trailer, tanker or spreader.

JCB has also added a new road performance package which provides further traction control and a hill hold feature that is unique to JCB.

A hydrostatic dual steering system allows the operator to operate and maneouvre the tractor with ease even at high speeds while maintaining a high level of safety, JCB said.

Power and performance

JCB’s new Fastrac 8330 is powered by a 8.4-litre, six-cylinder engine that delivers up to 348hp. A twin turbocharger installation gives sharp responses and high torque ratings across a wide range of engine speeds, JCB said.

Combined with the CVT transmission with improved cruise control functions, the JCB Fastrac 8330 Series 5 tractor is capable of delivering optimum power and torque at all times, the company said.

The Fastrac 8330’s suspension has been designed to respond quickly to changing loads applied by front and rear mounted implements to help distribute the load evenly across the machine. With near 50:50 weight distribution and excellent traction, the machine is ideal for heavy draft work.

All-round suspension and a high-spec air seat ensures operators are comfortable at all times through different applications including baling, spreading and spraying. The heavy-duty axles can also be used at 3m track width for controlled traffic and row crop applications.

Hydraulics and lifting capacities

Hydraulics are delivered by means of five rear double acting electric spool valves and a Power Beyond hydraulic connection.

The Fastrac’s Category III rear hitch is capable of lifting 10,000kg to handle large capacity 3PL spreaders, ploughs, cultivators and mounted drills. Sensitive electronic draft control helps the Fastrac 8000 maintain traction under heavy load, JCB said.

For added productivity, operators can also use the optional Category 3N front hitch with 3500kg capacity, external lift/lower control and optional power & lighting sockets.

Optional rear deck mounted 900kg or 1,600kg ballast weights are available to provide additional traction. This load is suspended to provide additional comfort over wheel weight systems, JCB added.

In the cab

An easy-to-use touchscreen terminal in the cab has a simple and intuitive interface that allows operators to easily adjust functions and settings to suit the desired requirement, according to JCB.

Operators can also create and save up to five sequences, each with up to 15 steps in the Headland Turn Assist section to minimise control workload at the end of each run.

Four configurable joystick buttons can be assigned a wide range of functionality. Operators can opt for factory fit GPS solutions or use the JCB Fastrac 8330 with a wide range of third party systems.

A Rapid Steer option reduces the lock-to-lock turn of the steering wheel by 50 per cent to make headland and other field manoeuvres quick and easy.
