Valtra revamps Aussie line-up

Euro stage V compliant engines, new tyre choices and minor redesigns on the table for Australian Valtra customers

With Euro Stage V emissions regulations coming into force across Europe, Finnish tractor brand Valtra has taken the opportunity to update its product offerings.

As a result, there has been a change to the Australian line-up, more specifically the N, T and S series.

The additions to the engine required to meet the new regulations are on the exhaust side, in line with AGCO Power’s philosophy of after-treatment only so fuel efficiency and performance are not compromised.

The engine itself has been upgraded with hydraulic valve lash adjustment to reduce the required maintenance and cost of ownership.

The new after-treatment system is tucked away under the right corner of the cabin. This move not only reduces the size of the waterproof storage compartment, but it has also created a slim-line exhaust that can hardly be seen past the A-pillar, Valtra said.

N series changes

Valtra’s N4 series will feature an updated four-cylinder, 4.9-litre engine.

The latest N134, N154 and N174 models are fitted with a single air-bag version of the Aires pneumatic front suspension.

A new front linkage display through the SmartTouch terminal will come in handy for ground engaging work and for changing a front mower from transport to field position, for example.

Tyre choices on the N series now include Bridgestone and Continental as well as some new options from Mitas, Michelin and Trelleborg.

The lower spec Hitech and Active variants can now be optioned with an auxiliary SmartTouch ISOBUS terminal and/or the AGCO Common Electronic Architecture (CEA) Valtra Guide system, which come standard in the Versu and Direct models.

T series changes

Valtra's T4 series tractors are fitted with a 6.6-litre or 7.4-litre six-cylinder engine.

With the change to Euro Stage V, Valtra has dropped the T144 from its Australia and New Zealand line-up, but is adding the Tier-3 (non SCR) T154, T174E, T194 and T234 models with Powershift transmissions.

The T series also offer the new front linkage display, tyre choices and additional options that were introduced with the revamped N series.

S series changes

The S4 range, Valtra’s highest horsepower offering, comes in black and offers a new 8.4-litre AGCO Power engine with AGCO's CVT transmission and the SmartTouch user interface.

Similar to its smaller siblings, the after-treatment system on the S4 is located under the right side of the cab at the expense of the fuel tank on that side. As a result, the left side fuel tank had to be redesigned to make up for the missing fuel capacity.

Other redesigns include new stairs and handrail, a more accessible toolbox, and a new battery box.

S4 models also have the new ‘hockey stick’ LED tail light that is featured on the rest of Valtra’s fourth generation tractors. Width signalling panels are now a factory option.

As with the N4 and T4, the range of wheel options available from factory has expanded to suit more applications.

Valtra continues to offer the S4 range with non-SCR Tier 2 engine options. These models use an older version of the turbocharging system and do not produce the additional 30hp of boost that the Stage V engines do.
