Following the launch of the all-new G series mid-last year, Valtra has continued its new gear roll out by lifting the covers off its 5th generation A, N and T series tractors offering outputs of up to 235hp.
The new machines were unveiled at a special virtual event this week to mark Valtra’s 70th anniversary in 2021 and to reveal what lies ahead for the Finnish brand.
Valtra said it developed the next gen machines in-line with customer demands in a bid to offer them better comfort and increased productivity.
“The new tractors are not only good looking, they are also easy to use, they have many new smart functions, and they are extremely comfortable to operate,” said Valtra Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Mikko Lehikoinen.
“We have made plenty of improvements in the new series based on customer feedback on our award-winning fourth generation tractors.
“Precision farming is at the centre of the new generation, and each new model is available with Valtra Connect remote monitoring.”
The A series will continue to offer seven models, all of them available as so-called Gear Lever (GL) models, which feature an easy-to-use mechanical transmission.
The 105 and 115 horsepower models are also available with a HiTech 4 four-step powershift transmission which is controlled electronically. All A Series come with Valtra’s shuttle transmission including the integrated handbrake.
The three-cylinder A75 to A95 models can be equipped with the HiTech 2 transmission featuring two powershift gears. Valtra said the HiTech 2 will allow operators to achieve more efficient field work and road transport at lower engine speeds. The HiTech 2 models have a 24 forward and 24 reverse speed transmission.
All HiTech 4 A Series models can be equipped with Creeper speed as low as 100m/h.
Engine power has also been increased by five horsepower on the four-cylinder models. All engines comply with Stage V emissions standards and now feature a diesel particulate filter (DPF) in addition to SCR injection, without exhaust gas recirculation (EGR).
A new accelerator pedal allows more precise engine speed control. The service interval has also been increased from 500 to 600 hours, reducing maintenance costs and downtime for operators.
Other improvements on the A series include dual-circuit hydraulic brakes, new control armrest, redesigned engine cover and optional Valtra Connect remote monitoring system.
Valtra’s higher horsepower N and T series have been equipped with an array of new features including redesigned cabs, new transmission, new engine features and new tech in the cab to make the machines precision-farming ready and more comfortable for the operator.
One of the most visible new features on 5th generation N and T Series tractors, Valtra said, is the display on the A-pillar, which replaces the traditional instrument panel behind the steering wheel and where all the important information can be seen on the colour screen.
The top of the display always shows default information, such as the driving speed, engine speed and time. Below that, the operator can select which other relevant parameters or information of their tractor or implement they wish to monitor. The display also shows the radio station and smartphone information over Bluetooth.
The same display can also be used on HiTech and Active models for all engine, hydraulics and transmission settings. On Versu and Direct models, the A-pillar display and SmartTouch divide the tasks according to suitability and also the preferences of the operator.
The steering column is completely new on the 5th gen N and T series, allowing for easier adjustment of the steering wheel position. Valtra’s forward-reverse shuttle lever has been updated to make it easier for operators to change directions when switching between different controls such as the SmartTouch lever or the TwinTrac shuttle. The steering wheel is a little bigger than before but still handy in size, Valtra said.
In SmartTouch models, the right side of the cab has been redesigned, and the seat swivels even more to the right. The right control panel also has a phone holder and optional USB charging points for mobile phones, tablets and other electronic devices. The upper part of the backrest on the new generation Valtra Evolution seat swivels with the driver.
A higher-quality dark Premium interior is available as an option and includes luxurious features such as leather-covered steering wheel, partially chrome pedals and rubber padding at the bottom of the storage compartments.
Customers can specify their new N or T Series tractor with Valtra Guide autoguidance and smart farming features such as Task Doc and Section Control.
The brand-new Auto U-Pilot combines Valtra’s innovative headland management system with Valtra Guide. Auto U-Pilot controls the implement with more precision in the headland, making operators’ jobs easier.
Another innovation Valtra has brought to the table is its new Precision Lift & Load app which takes loading work and task recording to a whole new level, Valtra said.
The app is available for use with the G, N and T Series SmartTouch models to weigh, collect and send loading data for recording and invoicing purposes. It can be accessed and operated from the touchscreen on the SmartTouch armrest and does not require any separate controls or displays.
Users can also use the app to set the upper and lower limits for loader movements and maximum angles for safety. Once those parameters are breached, the loader stops working automatically.
There is also a shake function that helps the operator ensure no materials remain in the bucket such as wet snow or sand.
Two pressure sensors and two position sensors plus an ECU controller located inside the beam of the loader works with the SmartTouch software to communicate data to the operator and to execute the operator’s commands.
Precision Lift & Load functions for different front-loader tasks can be saved as profiles in the SmartTouch interface for easy deployment during the next application.
