VIDEO: Baroness leading in own turf

Turf care specialist Baroness expands its presence in Australia with latest five-deck rotary mower

Japanese ground care expert Baroness's latest release, the GM2800B, is catered to golf courses, councils and park maintenance, providing an even cut every time, distributor Kubota Tractor Australia (KTA) claims.

Recognising a need for specialist turf maintenance machines, KTA signed up to distribute the Baroness brand in Australia about two years ago.

Recently, Baroness has extended its range of offerings in Australia by launching the widest-cut mower in its line-up yet, the GM2800B with a 2.8m-wide cutting deck.

"Prior to having this, our largest mower was in the Kubota range which has a 72-inch (1.8m) deck. So we're a lot wider cut now which is good," says Kubota Golf Equipment Sales Executive, Trent Saunders.

"This model caters to councils and golf courses; anyone in the turf market who wants a wide area mower."

Powered by a 56hp Kubota engine, the GM2800B features five individual decks – three at the front and two at the rear that mould to the shape of the ground to offer an even cut each time.

A unique height adjustment system enables operators to change cutting heights within minutes for mowing on different terrain.

KTA adds the blades of the machine are made from an alloy of hard-wearing metals that will last up to five times longer compared to standard blades.

"One of the key benefits of the machine is that the widest point of the mower is at the front, so operators need not look over their shoulders the whole time," Saunders says.

"So although we have a smaller cut compared to other machines, people who have trialled and purchased the mower have said it's a lot more productive because they only have to look out the front."

A selectable 2WD/4WD system and power steering come standard on the GM2800B. Operator comfort is enhanced by the addition of an adjustable steering wheel and seat, while a protection net and weather canopy shield the operator from golf balls and the elements.

Servicing points including the radiator, air cleaner and oil are easily accessible under a bonnet that opens up on both sides.

"So your daily checks are nice and simple, which they need to be otherwise operators won't do it," Saunders says.

Customers can opt to purchase additional items with their mower including LED lights and fire extinguishers.

The Baroness GM2800B five-deck rotary mower is priced in the mid $70,000. From now until December 31, 2016, Kubota is offering 0.09 per cent finance over 60 months for the Baroness GM2800B.
