VIDEO: Flatout finds place on Aussie farms

A range of sturdy and affordable land rollers for pre-harvest preparation is now available through Oz Value Ag

Officially making its debut at the 2016 Elmore Machinery field days, the Flatout series of land rollers come in various lengths and configurations to suit different farm sizes.

According to distributor Oz Value Ag sales rep Ben Findlay, land rollers are fast becoming essential tools on the farm.

"Rollers have become more popular over the last few years with more people becoming full cropping and no stock on their operations," he says.

"The rollers will roll rocks, limestone, anything that will be sticking up beyond your crop that you don't want the header to touch and you'll save dollars on the header."

In addition, land rollers promote good germination of the crop by making sure every seed has good contact with the soil after sowing.

The series is available in a simple fixed roller configuration, twist rollers that swivel and twist for easy transportation, and its flagship three-part Tri-Plex land roller.

All units are available in working widths up to 15.2m with steel thicknesses of up to 25mm.

Oz Value Ag claims a 40ft roller with 16mm thick steel offers ground pressures of up to 750kg per metre with an even roll pressure ideal for rolling lentils, peas and beans.

Another key feature on the units, especially on the flagship Tri-Plex models, is their ability to fold up and down without the operator having to leave the tractor cab.

"The benefit of this Tri-Plex land rollers is you can roll it 40ft wide and within a few seconds you can fold it to 4m for transportation down the road and travel to your next paddock without having to get out of your tractor," Findlay says.

Some other key features of the series include 75mm bearings, hydraulic locking pins and a floating hitch on the Tri-Plex models.

A 40ft wide roller with a 16mm thick barrel is priced at $44,000 plus GST. Popular sizes, according to Oz Value Ag are the 32ft wide 16mm thick unit with a price tag of $38,000 plus GST, and the 52ft wide 16mm thick model priced at $52,000 plus GST.
