Spider revolutionises slope mowing

Remote-controlled mowers designed for steep mowing take Oz by storm

Mowing on slopes can be a dangerous task, but Czech ground care equipment specialist Dvorak's invention aims to take care of that.

Its range of remote-controlled mowers, named the Spider, has been designed to not just make mowing less mundane, but more importantly to make it safe where slopes and undulating terrains are involved.

The machines cater to a range of clientele, including councils who need to mow the slopes on the sides of highways; as well as property owners who need to clear shrubs and overgrowth on their land safely and effectively.

Inlon has been distributing the Spider mower range in Australia since 2007, starting with the largest ILD02 model suited for councils, and has recently beefed up the range with the ILD01 and Mini models.

The mowers were recently put on display at the 2017 Farm World field days in Victoria.

"The Spider ILD01 sits in the middle of the range and is more suited to contractors or councils," says Inlon Sales and Marketing Manager, Gary Surman.

"It features an all-wheel drive and will operate up to a 40 degree angle unaided."

The larger Spider ILD01 and ILD02 mowers can be opted with a winch that serves to stabilise the machines on steeper slopes, and allows for a steeper working angle - up to 55 degrees.

"There are four cutting blades under the deck which will mulch up the material and contain the material within the machine, so you're not left with an unsightly windrow," Surman says.

"Safety is number one, and these machines really come into their own in steep areas as well as in confined areas."

The ILD01 and ILD02 are powered by Kawasaki twin cylinder engines which, according to Surman, are very well-performing engines that offer better productivity using less fuel.

The Spider Mini mower is the smallest in the range, with a 56cm mowing width, and is ideal for work on private properties.

The machine can work on slopes at up to 30 degrees, and also mulches up the material instead of spitting out rocks and debris, making it a safe unit to use.

Pricing for the Spider ILD01 is $A29,000 including GST, while the Spider Mini retails for $13,500 plus GST.
