Wimmera 2021 cancelled

Iconic field days scheduled for March next year will not go ahead

The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed yet another victim, this time the iconic Wimmera Machinery Field Days in Victoria which is one of the biggest farm events on the Victorian calendar.

The field days were lucky enough to escape the virus’ wrath earlier this year, successfully holding one of the last events on the ag field days calendar before COVID-19 put a halt on everything.

However, with about five months left to go till the next show, Wimmera field days organisers have decided to not push ahead with the event in 2021 due to ongoing concerns with health and safety, restrictions, lockdowns and border closures.

The next Wimmera field days have been penned in for early March 2022.

The Federal Government recently announced a $39 million package to support agricultural field days that have been forced to cancel due to the pandemic, with shows eligible to claim up to $70,000 based on previous years’ attendance figures.
