CLAAS has unveiled its new AXION 9 large tractor series at Agritechnica 2025 in Germany, blending optimised hardware with a completely redesigned cab, a new electronic infrastructure and a wide range of new assistance systems.
The AXION 9 range, which replaces the AXION 900 family, comprises five wheeled and two Terra Trac crawler tractors, developed to deliver maximum performance even more efficiently and economically in the field and on the road for large farms and contractors.
The Terra Trac version of the 9.450 has been an instant hit, too, winning Tractor of the Year 2026 – HighPower at Agritechnica 2025, defeating five other tractors shortlisted for advancements in technology, automation and sustainability.

Power ranges from 330-450hp for the AXION 9 range, powered by the latest generation Cursor 9 six-cylinder 8.7-litre engine with maximum torque of 1850Nm.
The new dynamic auto droop function adjusts engine, drive train and hydraulic power for just the amount of energy required, ensuring maximum efficiency. The idle speed is 650rpm, lowering fuel consumption and noise when the tractor is stationary.
Sophisticated and further optimised hardware such as the engine, gearbox and axles are combined with a completely redesigned cab, a new electronic infrastructure and a wide range of new assistance systems up to Level 2 Autonomy.
In addition, the seven models have service contracts lasting up to eight years, as well as a new component warranty for five years or 5000 operating hours.

The fuel tank capacity of the AXION 9 wheelers has been increased to 712 litres, and 860 litres on the AXION 9 TERRA TRAC. There are also two pole connections next to the cab access for operating mobile fuel pumps.
The engines are approved for operation with hydrotreated vegetable oils (HVO), which reduces the carbon footprint by up to 90 per cent.
With a view to economy and total cost of ownership, the six-cylinder engine has not only been made more wear-resistant – for example, through optimised liners, new piston crown cooling and new injectors – but also has longer maintenance intervals.
An oil change is only required every 750 operating hours, and the intervals for the most important filters have been extended to 300 operating hours.

The electronic drive management system has been completely redesigned and offers a wide range of new options as well as optimised tuning for performance, comfort and efficiency. With the new vehicle drive controller, operators can not only switch between the direction of travel but also between pedal mode, joystick mode and PTO mode without any changes in speed or rpm.
The auto load anticipation function continuously and proactively optimises engine speeds, transmission ratios, hydraulics and auxiliary units based on an adaptive algorithm.
Other functions regulate engine speed and transmission ratios depending on load, driving speed and hydraulic requirements.
The Terra Trac tractors have up to 50 per cent more contact area and, with a maximum external width of 3m, are a practical alternative to twin wheels. Track widths of 457, 635, 735 and 890mm enable a wide range of applications. The AXION 9 range can be optioned with a tyre pressure control system.
Another highlight of the new AXION 9 tractors is the completely redesigned cab. With a noise level of 66 dB(A) and volume of three cubic metres, there’s plenty of room for driver and passenger seats and storage compartments.

Work can be monitored via three integrated cameras, with high-resolution image capability on the new CEBIS connect terminal as part of a completely new electronic infrastructure.
In addition to the 12-inch main screen integrated into the armrest, all information and applications can also be displayed on a second 12-inch touch terminal. The menus can be switched freely between the two terminals, depending on the task at hand.
Machine parameters such as speed, consumption, power take-off shafts and hydraulic control circuits are displayed on an additional height-adjustable terminal in the right-hand A pillar.
The working hydraulics of the new AXION 9 deliver volume of up to 370 l/min, with a lift capacity of 11 to 13 tonnes at the rear and 6.5 tonnes at the front.
No word yet on availability of the all-new AXION 9 range in Australia.
