Yamaha Motor Australia’s launched its latest side-by-side vehicle (SSV) – the Wolverine X2.
The dual-purpose SSV, set to go on sale locally in August 2018, has a two-person cab configuration, a newly designed piston-assist 576kg-rated dump bed with an automotive-style single-hand operated tailgate, and a 907kg towing capacity.
Power is from Yamaha’s proven 847cc twin-cylinder rubber-mounted engine with 81Nm of torque, mated to a CVT transmission and an on-command four-wheel drive system. The US-manufactured machine also has power steering.
The ride-by-wire throttle allows for the adoption of a speed limiter, which limits the vehicle to a top speed of 40km/h by turning a removable key, making it ideal for inexperienced drivers, work sites and other specialised operating conditions.
In addition, the Wolverine X2 features functional design traits for a variety of uses such as farm work or hunting. These traits include a one-hand operated tailgate.
The cab features high-backed seats, each with shoulder bolsters and automotive-style three-point seat belts. Additional cab comforts include high-traction floorboards and adjustable driver seat and steering column.
The Wolverine X2 offers nearly 600 watts of electrical output from the engine, two standard 12V DC ports; pre-wired accessory switches and plugs; fully-enclosed doors; high, wide fenders; LED headlights with hi/low beam; and all-new tail lights that provide integrated lighting when in reverse.
The new LCD digital meter features a large dimmable display, with speedometer, odometer, trip and hour meters, along with vehicle status and warning displays.
There’s independent double-wishbone suspension, providing 220mm of preload-adjustable travel in front and 226mm in the rear, for excellent handling-feel and bump absorption.
Australia will get the souped-up R-Spec Wolverine X2, complete with with KYB piggyback shocks, hard suntop, overfenders, and cast aluminum wheels in Alpine White.
