McIntosh & Son adds to dealer portfolio

A new acquisition for the expanding 67-year-old business, with the Geraldton-based Purcher International to come under its umbrella

Leading dealership group, McIntosh & Son, has purchased its Geraldton (WA) neighbour, Purcher International, with the transfer of ownership to become effective on September 1, 2022.

The Purcher family’s 55-year legacy will be preserved with the Purcher International trading name and physical location remaining unchanged, while it will be business as usual for parts and servicing across its agriculture, trucks and industrial pillars.

Purcher International will continue to operate at 99 Flores Road, Geraldton, while the McIntosh & Son dealership in the coastal city is located at 160 Flores Road.

Both dealerships will retain their current teams, led by general manager Anthony Ryan, while Purcher International patriarch Steve and Paula Purcher will remain in a mentoring role at their former business over the next 12 months.

Steve’s father, Roy, founded the business in 1967.

“Our journey has been a lot of hard work and fun throughout the years. I believe people have enjoyed knowing that, as a family-run business, the buck stopped with Roy and then myself, which was a great compliment,” Steve said.

“We’re so proud to have been a part of, and contributed to, the communities of the midwest, supporting charities and sporting clubs.

“For more than half a century, my family has built this business by understanding the importance of supporting great products with great customer service.

“Family values have been the heart of our business from the beginning, and we are pleased to be passing the baton onto another proud Western Australian family-owned business with the same values at its core.”

The acquisition means that McIntosh & Son becomes a Case IH dealer for the first time, and it also holds the New Holland franchise at its nine regional West Australian and Queensland McIntosh dealerships.
