New JCB Fastrac 6000 headed to Australian farms

Australian farmers are set to get access to JCB's new Fastrac 6000 tractor, with the model due to arrive in the country soon under the brand's newly appointed national dealer, Adaptalift JCB.

“That’s due to land in Australia in the next couple of months,” said David Brunt, executive general manager for Adaptalift JCB, describing the Fastrac as “an iconic product” for the brand. The 6000 joins two existing Fastrac models already sold locally.

The 6000 Series was launched globally as a new tier between JCB’s existing 4000 and 8000 Series ranges, comprising two models: the 6260, producing 284hp, and the 6300, producing 335hp.

Both run on a new chassis combining a cast front section – supporting the engine, front axle and optional front linkage – with a steel fabricated rear structure carrying the cab, transmission and rear axle.

Power comes from a 6.7-litre FPT six-cylinder diesel engine, paired with a ZF stepless transmission managed by JCB’s Smart Transmission Control system, which the company says delivers smooth shifting and adapts automatically for optimum fuel efficiency.

Peak torque is rated at 1275Nm for the 6260 and 1400Nm for the 6300, with at least 95 per cent of maximum torque available across a broad rev range for heavy cultivation or road work.

At the rear, an 11,000kg three-point linkage and four-speed power take-off cater for large implements, with an optional 5000kg front linkage and 1000rpm PTO available.

Hydraulic output is 205 litres per minute as standard, rising to an optional 410 litres per minute on the 6300 for demanding implements such as large air seeders, while a 5000kg-capacity rear load deck offers a third mounting point for equipment like sprayers or liquid fertiliser tanks.

Four-wheel steering comes standard, with a central tyre inflation system (CTIS) allowing operators to switch between optimal field and road tyre pressures without leaving the cab. According to JCB, four tyres can be inflated for road travel in just over four minutes.

An optional twin-satellite guidance package enables the Fastrac’s Twin Steer function, which steers the front and rear axles independently for precision line-following on slopes and undulating ground. Braking is via externally mounted disc brakes with ABS, featuring a wear indicator and a faster disc-replacement process.

Inside the cab, JCB’s iCON touchscreen interface controls the tractor’s guidance, camera and implement systems, with an optional second display available for extra screen space. LiveLink telematics and optional ISOBUS implement control are also included, alongside front and rear digital cameras for all-round visibility. Top speed for both models is 66km/h where local regulations allow.

“The all-new 6000 Series stays true to JCB’s innovative and ground-breaking concept that defines all Fastracs, resulting in an exceptional combination of productivity, efficiency, versatility and operator comfort,” said John Smith, JCB Agriculture's managing director. “It also takes the JCB Fastrac into a new power and performance category.”

The Fastrac 6300 has already picked up international recognition. At Agritechnica 2025 – the world’s largest agricultural machinery show, held in Germany – it won the ‘Sustainable Tractor of the Year’ award, with judges praising it for “redefining the balance between performance, efficiency and sustainability.” It’s the second time JCB has won the category, following the Fastrac 4220 iCON in 2023.

JCB Deputy Chairman, George Bamford, described the 6300 as a “masterpiece of engineering” reflecting the brand’s focus on productive, efficient machinery.

The 6000 Series also took out the ‘Machine of the Year’ Gold Award from the organisers of LAMMA, the UK’s largest agricultural machinery show, presented at NEC Birmingham in January 2026. Judges highlighted the Fastrac’s all-round adaptive suspension and multi-mode four-wheel steering as features no rival in its class could match, alongside its braking performance under load.

The Fastrac 6000’s arrival follows Adaptalift JCB’s launch last week at its new Truganina premises in Melbourne’s west, where the business welcomed its first customers, industry figures and partners.

Under the new dealership model, Adaptalift JCB now provides JCB’s full product range and customer support across Australia’s major metropolitan centres, including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

For farm machinery customers, that means a national network of 15 branches and 26 service locations, backed by 175 field service technicians and a further 60 to 70 workshop staff, supporting JCB’s agricultural and construction range.

While the Fastrac 6000 is the standout for agricultural customers, Adaptalift JCB is also expanding availability of JCB’s wheel loader and excavator ranges.

Jose Luis Gonçalves, JCB’s director of international sales, flagged wheel loaders – from compact models through to larger, higher-tonnage units – as “a major opportunity” for the brand locally. JCB’s global wheel loader line-up spans more than 20 models, from compact 2-tonne machines suited to farmyards and tight sites up to large 24-tonne loaders for bulk material handling.

On the excavator side, Adaptalift JCB is already offering JCB’s X Series excavators locally, with the new 420X and 520X set to extend that range further. “Australia is the kind of market that requires those sizes of excavators, and we are working towards that,” Gonçalves said.
