Krone Australia, the local arm of the German hay and silage equipment manufacturer that falls under the Kubota Australia umbrella, says its new ECTC Connect coupling delivers huge efficiencies for large-scale mowing jobs.
The new couple frame essentially allows the operator to connect two 4m ECTC400 or 5m ECTC500 trailed rear mowing units, allowing them to work in conjunction with a front mower to give a huge cutting width of up to 13m.
According to Krone Product Manager, Nathan Thomas, the ECTC Connect system will deliver big benefits for Australia’s broadacre farmers.
“Until now, farmers have only been able to use one trailed mower in combination with a front mower, a butterfly mower, or the BIGM450 Self Propelled mower,” he said.
“Krone is the only manufacturer to provide a connecting kit, allowing a massive working width, making it a ground-breaking product.
“The mowers can be operated simultaneously or individually from the cab via an electrical box and the operational movements include moving the mowers up and down and angle adjustment and turning – perfect for when you approach a headland and need to steer the mowers tighter.
Mr Thomas said ECTC Connect was also simple to operate.
“The ECTC Connect features a hydraulic quick coupler for hydraulic connection to the rear mowers, while also allowing operators to individually fine-tune the hydraulic valve,” he said.
The hydraulic valve has a sensitivity flow control adjustment to change the timing when turning or lifting, meaning each mower is adjusted to run in combination together. This provides a smooth operation, allowing for more consistent, more efficient.
“One rear trailed mower without a transport kit is up to five metres wide, but an endwise transport kit will reduce the size to three metres,” Mr Thomas said.
“Although transporting two rear mowers isn’t possible at this stage, the endwise kit allows you to drive on the road with one mower, without being oversized. The other mower could be transported with a different tractor.
“There are two PTO shaft ends for each individual mower and a separate gearbox for quick adaption to the ECTC mowers.
“The ECTC Connect is a fantastic and versatile product to drive results, improve productivity and get the job done well,” Mr Thomas said.
